Herdsmen Attack: Gov Ugwuanyi Storms Mgbuji Forests With Heavy Security

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has stormed Mgbuji forests with heavy security amid attacks by herdsmen.

News ToGo reports that herdsmen stormed some communities in Enugu State and attacked residents killing many of them. Ugwuanyi arrived at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, yesterday evening and proceeded straight to Eha Amufu. He was on a fact-finding visit to obtain first-hand information about the issues that led to the recent crisis in Aguamaede and Mgbuji communities.

Governor Ugwuanyi, accompanied by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Ammani, the Garrison Commander, 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Brig. Gen. M.K Ibrahim, and the Anglican Bishop of Nike Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Christian Onyeka Onyia, visited Mgbuji community, different forests, markets, village squares and other locations in Eha Amufu where he interacted with the indigenes to ascertain the remote cause of the recent crisis in the community with a view to addressing the lingering issues in the area decisively.

The governor empathized with the people, ascertained how they were faring, and assured them of his administration’s commitment to their safety and wellbeing as well as the resolution of the crisis between farmers and herders.

The Eha Amufu indigenes appreciated Governor Ugwuanyi for the rare visit, especially at night, stressing that the gesture was a demonstration of his commitment to ending the farmers/herders issues in Eha Amufu.

They pointed out that Ugwuanyi was the first governor to visit Eha Amufu over the lingering crisis in the area and thanked him for the N10 million he released for the immediate needs of the victims, among other interventions.

Northerners Panic, Cry Out Over Plot To Sack Them From Abia After 70 Bodies Were Found

Northerners Panic, Cry Out Over Plot To Sack Them From Abia After 70 Bodies Were Found

The Northern Community residing in Umuchieze Cattle Market in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State has contested the government’s allegations of decomposing corpses around the market.

News ToGo reports that the Northerners saw the development as an excuse to evict them from the land they have occupied since 2005.

Governor Alex Otti had earlier stated that decomposed bodies, headless corpses, and skeletons were discovered in the market, and ransom for kidnappings was often dropped in the vicinity. He expressed concerns about the escalating insecurity in the Umunneochi/Isuikweato axis, labeling the market as a hub for criminals and kidnappers. Consequently, he ordered traders to reside with the natives in neighboring communities, intending to make the market non-residential.

In response, the community’s spokesperson, Buba Abdullahi, expressed dissatisfaction with the governor’s stance, rejecting the government’s claims about decomposed bodies and criminal activities in the market. Abdullahi contested the recent demolition of houses in the market, asserting that the community had peacefully coexisted with the locals for years.

Abdullahi emphasized their population of 15,000 and the 80 hectares of land donated to them by the previous government. He argued that forcing them to relocate to neighboring villages would equate to expulsion from Abia, highlighting their willingness to collaborate with the government to address security challenges in the area.

He further appealed, stating, “It is unjust, unfair, and ungodly for anyone to prevent any Nigerian from staying in any part they so desire in Nigeria.”

Keke Rider Almost Beaten To Death For Complaining That Muslims Blocked Road To Pray

There was pandemonium as some Muslims descended on a keke rider following his comment.

News ToGo learned that after the keke rider complained that the Muslims blocked the busy road in Lagos State to pray, what would have turned into a tragedy was averted. This was because the Muslims descended on him beating him mercilessly to the point that they nearly lynched him to death.

The man narrowly escaped from his attackers which saved the day. The enraged faithful then went ahead to destroy his keke which was another way of venting their anger since he had managed to escape from them in the course of the beating.

According to reports, the man would have been mobbed to death right there if he hadn’t run into a shop whilst they were beating him.

The Lagos state government has been urged to address the issue to save other people from being killed by such violent people. There have been cases of worshippers blocking the roads while praying which somehow affects other road users. This recent case which would have led to the killing of the keke rider is a reminder that if not prevented, such situation may repeat itself and things may get out of hand.
