However, the federal government has also defended its action. Similarly, the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC Limited also defended its action explaining that market forces now determine the actual price of PMS in the market. The NNPC Limited Group Chief Executive Officer, GCEO, Mele Kyari had on different occasions stated that Nigerians now buying fuel at the real price which is decided by market forces. He added that it could go higher or lower depending on the market forces.

But Musa explained that he has decided to sell his own fuel at N580. His tweet about the price triggered reactions and excitement among social media users on Twitter. However, he stood his ground on the price. As it stands now, many people would go Musa’s fuel station, MYCA7 in Kano, to buy at a cheaper price since many other stations in the North sell higher.

BREAKING: NLC Speaks On Agreement With FG To Calls Off Proposed Nationwide Strike

NLC has spoken on agreement with FG to call off its proposed nationwide strike.

News ToGo reports that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) said it has no agreement with the Federal Government to call off the planned indefinite strike scheduled for October 3.

Mr. Benson Upah, the Head of Information and Public Affairs at the NLC disclosed this in a statement.

Upah spoke in response to a statement allegedly issued by Mr. Olajide Oshundun, the Director of Press and Public Relations in the Ministry of Labour and Employment. He pointed out inconsistencies in the statement, including references to the proposed strike and the illegal occupation of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) secretariat.

The NLC emphasized that there was no agreement with the government to suspend the planned strike. It added that there was also no scheduled meeting with the government to discuss its suspension. The union clarified that this matter goes beyond the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

While acknowledging the role played by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Mr. Simon Lalong, in securing the release of NURTW executives from unlawful police detention, the NLC took exception to the ministry describing these executives as “factional leaders,” asserting that they were lawfully elected.

It urged the police and those responsible for the executives’ troubles to cease their conduct. NLC added that they should refrain from impunity, emphasizing the importance of upholding democracy and the rule of law.
